The boys are really into making toasts at mealtime. The other day at lunch, Gabe asked if we could "do a cheers" and I suggested that we cheer to a good day at T-ball. We hadn't gone to T-ball yet; and cheering to something that hadn't happened didn't make sense to Gabe. (I guess he and Daddy cheered to a good swim lesson the other day - after Gabe went to swim class.) So, he came up with the following (WORD FOR WORD) toast:
"For the love of Mama!"
Cheers to that! How sweet is this child of mine?

Happy Birthday, Dada!
We celebrated Jason's birthday last weekend with cake, ice cream, and homemade cards. The boys tried really hard to help Daddy have a good day.

Deep Thoughts By Zachie
Zach has stumped me the past few days with some hard questions. Here they are:
On his changing table (which I've got to stop using and get him dressing himself independently!):
"Mom, am I going to die? I don't want to die."
(a tiny piece of my heart broke off hearing him say those words)

In the car on our way to pick up Gabe at school:
"Mom, is God on the ground?"

Today's Gabeism
Today is Dada's birthday, and the boys are very excited. I made muffins for the boys' breakfast this morning, and as he was eating, Gabe said, "there's nothing like a birthday and some muffins."
Gabe's Dormouse
In school at the moment, Gabe's learning all about animals that hibernate or migrate during winter. He came home with an art project that I thought was super special - of a hibernating dormouse.
Here's the picture:

Dr. Zachseuss
Today is Dr. Seuss' birthday. At school this week, there was a lot of Dr. Seuss activity in honor of his birthday.
Here's a picture of Zach in his Dr. Seuss hat:

he wanted to show everyone the picture of "Jonathan & Zach" in their hats

And here are some Dr. Seuss pictures from the past:

Through
Yesterday Gabe came home with a special drawing. One of his school friends, Lydia, drew him a picture. At dinner, I asked him about the drawing, and this is how the conversation went:
Me: Gabe, that was really nice of Lydia to draw that picture for you.
Gabe: I didn't want it. I told her that I didn't want it.
Me: You did?
Gabe: Yea. It's just that I'm kind of through with Lydia.
Me: Through with Lydia?
Gabe: Yea, it's just that I like boys better than girls now.
The conversation went on, but how funny is it that he used the word, "through," to describe how he's done being friend with girls? Gah!

here's Lydia's picture (notice the hearts, there are x's and o's, and she threaded some yarn through the bottom!)
