Cuteness

Here are some cute things that the boys have said recently:

Gabe to Zach:

"I like the name, ZZ Top; it suits you."

(ZZ Top is one of the nicknames that Jay and I have for Zach)

Zach to his swim instructor:

"Did you gas?"

Gabe to me in an exasperated tone:

"He's being a love-pet again."

Family Relations

Zach's at that stage where he's not quite sure how all of his relatives fit together.  Yesterday we had the following conversation:

Zach:  When you were little and I was your Daddy, was I bigger than you?

Me:  Hmmm, who's Mommy's Daddy?

Zach:  Jason.

Me:  Jason's your Daddy.  Who's Mommy's Daddy?

Zach:  I don't know.

Me:  Papa is Mommy's Daddy.

Zach:  Oh.  Am I going to be big one day?

And based on his follow up question, it seems as if he was more interested in knowing that he'll be big one day than in who is who.  Ooops.

Happy Cinco De Mayo!

We had lunch with some friends at a local Mexican restaurant yesterday to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.  The boys were very well-behaved, and we had a fun lunch.  The restaurant handed out Mexican sombreros, necklaces, etc., so we had a photo shoot later in the day.

they were holding hands!

Some Recent Cuteness

Both boys have said some really cute things lately.  Here they are:

The other day, Zach came home from school with the following art project that he'd made from fruit loops:

When Gabe saw the project, he said, "Zach's that's really beautiful.  Did you do it all by yourself, or did you have help?  I can't take my eyes off of it; it's just so beautiful, Zach."

We were playing outside today, and Gabe saw some of the new grass growing (we planted grass seed in the backyard).  He whispered with a big smile, "welcome to the world, baby grass."

*****************************************************************************************

Zach's pretty attached to an acorn that we found in the backyard and likes to play with it and bring it places with him (today I found it wedged between the couch cushions [along with a $5 bill!] - evidently he'd hidden it a while back and forgotten about it).  Having joyfully reunited with the acorn, a couple of hours later he asked us to play, "Hide The Acorn".  We haven't played the game before so we weren't quite sure what it was; only that Zach said that he was going to hide the acorn and then we were going to look for it.  So, Zach proceeds to audibly hide the acorn around the corner on one of the columns in the living room.  After asking us to find it, he and Jason go running, and Zach grabs the acorn and yells, "I found it first!"  And then he says that he's going to hide it again and be the first to find it.  Gah!
