A Conversation With Zachie On Heels And Heaven

Here's a sweet conversation that I shared with Zach tonight (verbatim):

Zach:  Can I see your cracks?

(Note:  Unfortunately, my heels are really cracked, and the boys have taken a strong interest in them.)

After seeing my heels:

Zach:  Oh, Mom!  (Said with so much compassion and emotion)

Me:  It's okay, Zach.  They don't hurt.

Zach:  **Touching the cracks with one of his little fingers**:  I want new skin to grow there right now.

Zach:  It's because you're old?

Me:  Yes, hun.  And I have dry skin.

Zach:  Are you going to go to heaven?

Me:  Not for a very long time.

Zach:  Am I going to go to heaven?

Me:  Not for a very, very, very long time.

Zach:  I don't want to go to heaven.  (Said with a very pained expression)

Me:  It won't happen for a very long time, love.  You don't need to worry about it now.

Zach:  How do we get to heaven?

Me:  I'm not sure, love.

Zach:  Do we fly there?

Me:  I'm not sure.

Zach:  I want to see heaven.

Me:  Me, too hun.

Whoa.  I did not see our conversation taking that turn when Zach first asked to see the cracks in my heels.
