Gabe is so sweet sometimes that it's almost unreal. Zach's sick today (seems like he's ALWAYS getting sick), so the boys are watching movies this morning.
Gabe has his face planted right in front of the TV, watching Veggie Tales. All of a sudden he says, "beautiful Mama." Right. Out. Of. The. Blue.

And yesterday was my morning to sleep in. The boys were in the living room with Jay when I started coming down the stairs.
According to Jay, Gabe said, "I hear someone beautiful coming down the stairs."
Seriously? Way. Too. Cute.

Over The Years
We were driving in the car the other day, when Gabe asked what Daddy used to call him when he was a baby. It took me a minute to remember, but then I told him that Daddy used to call him, "puddin'" (short for pudding).
Gabe then asked, "over the years, what did you call me, then?" This child is a little old soul...

I Don't Have A Mommy
One of my mom friends hosted a Christmas gathering last night, and I got home late. I was so tired this morning, that when I was playing cars on the floor with Zach, my eyes were closing. Zach caught me a couple of times, and I really struggled to keep them open.
When it happened again, Zach bowed his head in sadness and this is how the conversation went:
Zach: I don't have a Mommy.
Me: What???
Zach: I don't have a Mommy to get up. (I think he meant that he didn't have a Mommy who was fully awake and present for him.)
Boy, did I feel terribly. Even though it was a dramatic statement, I was so impressed that Zach could put into words exactly how he felt. And he was right. Needless to say, that conversation woke me up!

My Boys And The Radio Discovery
Remember my post about Zach listening to the radio (for one of the first times in his life) and thinking that because a woman was singing (Rihanna) it was me?
This morning, I hijacked the music again and listened to Kiss 108 on the way to school. One of the morning hosts, Lisa, was talking; Gabe asked, "Mom, is that you?"
Seriously? We've been listening to kids' music for far too long...

Merry Christmas!
Gabe has taken to saying, "Merry Christmas," when he wakes up in the morning in addition to or sometimes in lieu of "good morning." How cute is that?

Out Of The Mouth Of Babes
At least I think this phrase applies:
About a month ago I was reading Gabe a (rather scientific) book about bodies. The book was describing fat cells, and Gabe touched my belly and said, "like you, Mom. You're fat."
*********************************************************************************
Tonight, we were playing hide 'n seek, and I was hiding behind the living room curtains. Gabe came running, proclaiming, "I found you, Mom. I saw your big belly through the curtain."
*********************************************************************************
Ah, the joys of motherhood.

Amis Mommy Dock
Gabe asked over and over, can you sing that, "Amis Mommy Dock" song? It finally occurred to me that he was referring to Feliz Navidad! Gah!
