Who Can I Marry?
As we were pulling out of the driveway to head to school this morning, Gabe asked who he could marry. He then added that Auntie Auntie is too old. I suggested that he might meet someone at school that he'd like to marry. The conversation ended.
The Good Old Days
This afternoon when we were driving in the car, Gabe asked if we could hang a swing from our tree, Mr. Treetop. When I suggested that the tree was too tall, he asked if Uncle Colin could come over and hang the swing with a tall ladder. I reminded Gabe that Uncle Colin moved far away, to Texas. And I asked Gabe if he remembers who else lives in Texas now. Gabe didn't remember at first, but when I reminded him that his school friend, Suzu, now lives in Texas, he replied very solemnly, "those were the good old days."
You Going Be Worried?
Yesterday Zach didn't got to school. I explained to him that some days he'll go to school, and some days he'll stay home with Mama. Today, when I told him that it was a school day, he said that he wanted to stay home with me. (Wah!) He didn't need much encouragement to get back on board the school train, but he did ask if I was going to be all alone in the house; and then he asked, "you going be worried?" He's such a darling!
Off To School Again
Today was Zach's second day of school; Gabe's third. As we were walking to the car today, Gabe asked me to take pictures again. So, why not?

Potty & Somersaults
Yesterday morning when we came home from dropping Gabe off at school, Zach reported that he needed to go pee pee on the potty. He asked to stand up, and sure enough, he went on the potty! I gave him so much positive reinforcement, including a piece of a kit kat bar; and then we made the calls to tell everyone.
When we told Gabe that Zach used the potty, Gabe told Zach that he was so proud of him. And when he heard that we'd called everyone to announce the news, he said that we needed to call everyone to report that Gabe can now do a somersault. Gah!
In lieu of the phone calls, here are some pics of my somersaulting boy:

Chef Zachie
Last night the boys were "making dinner" in their kitchen. Gabe had a turn with the apron & chef hat and then let Zach have a turn, too. Gabe is really showing more and more maturity these days. He was wonderful to baby Drew over the weekend, for example. Anyway, I had to snap a couple of pictures of Zach in his outfit - it was too cute! Gabe got just as much of a kick out of Zach in the outfit as I did. They would deliver the food to me in the "restaurant" aka the living room; and when they were in the playroom at their kitchen, I'd hear Gabe say, "Zach you look so cute in that dress." My heart melted!
A Trip To Dada's Office
I took the boys to Jason's office yesterday and learned on the two-hour drive that videos are now absolutely essential when taking long car rides. We didn't have our DVD player or i Pad with us yesterday, and so the boys decided to have screaming and spitting contests in the back. Great times.
Other than the wretched drive, it was a lot of fun for the boys to visit their Dad at his office. Gabe was thrilled to go; similarly, when I told Zach where we were going, he pumped his arms and exclaimed, "I'm so happy!"
When we got home after 2:00 in the afternoon, we were late for nap time. Zach was over-tired and over-excited and could not fall asleep. After almost an hour of banging on his crib and trying to get him to rest, I gave up and brought him downstairs. When I told him that he looked tired, he said, "I not tired. The yawns aren't here."
Here are some pics of the boys checking out their dad's desk:

First Day Of School - September 4, 2012
Both boys went to school today! Zach had his first day of pre-school, and Gabe had his first day of pre-k.
When we first started talking to Zach about school, he was confused and thought that he'd be going to school in Cohasset. He'd say, "I'm going to miss Nini" or "Nini's going to take me to school." You see, the camp that the boys attended in Cohasset this summer was held at a nursery school. Looking back, it was the best experience to prepare little Zachie for a real school experience.
As we were waiting in the car line at school, Zach said, "this is the worst day of my life." Wonder where he's heard that line before... It was a rainy morning, so there really wasn't time for us to delay at the car. Zach went right off with his teacher and walked into school with Gabe.
Surprisingly, I didn't cry. It all happened so fast, and any sadness that I felt turned quickly to thoughts of how Zach was doing in the classroom.
When I picked the boys up from school, Zach saw me and ran (away from the teachers), yelling, "Mama! Mama!" He seemed so happy and joyful. He immediately told me that the teacher "hit" him "in the classroom." Obviously, there was a story to be told. Turns out, Zach admitted that he was being silly with the crayons and that the teacher took them away. When I asked Zach who his friends at school were, he reported, "I can't quite remember. Only Jonathan." Again, he said, "this is the worst day of my life." When I asked him why, he said that he was "just pretending."
Gabe seemed to have a great first day, too. He reported that he didn't get any time-outs. He didn't remember any of his friends' names, only Joseph.
It is so hard to believe that both of our boys are in school!
