Time To Catch Up!

The Summer of 2013 is flying by, and like last year, I've been neglectful of this blog.  Where last summer I was hanging on by a thread with my two boys, this summer we've really enjoyed ourselves, particularly because Dada has been home more.  As I was driving Gabe to Recreation Station (a school-run camp for kids entering kindergarten) this morning, I was thinking about how I couldn't have planned this summer better if I'd tried.

After school ended in June, we had a couple of unscheduled weeks to muck about before Recreation Station began the week after July 4th.  Gabe has loved this program.  He gets to play with one of his good friends from preschool, and it's basically three hours of teacher-supervised recess, three days a week.  Right up Gabe's alley.

Both boys also spent separate weeks down in Cohasset at summer nursery school camp again this year.  Zach attended a "Pirate School" camp, and Gabe attended a "big boy" outdoor adventure camp.  Both boys came home with cool crafts, impressive artwork, and lots of good stories.  I'm both amazed and proud that my two boys feel so safe to stay at Nini and Papa's house by themselves and to attend a new school and make new friends.  Eating ice cream for breakfast might have been their favorite memory from camp at Nini and Papa's, but that's what time with grandparents is all about!

Thanks to a great birthday gift from Auntie Auntie and Auntie Alanna & Uncle Derek, we spent several Friday afternoons this summer at the North Shore Music Theater.  We saw Snow White, Cinderella's Wedding, Aladdin, Beauty & The Beast; and our last show this Friday will be Alice in Wonderland.  A big thank you to Melissa and Alanna & Derek for this experience.

At the end of this week, we're off to spend a week in New Hampshire (Story Land, here we come!) at Uncle Derek's family's lake house.  The boys can't wait to spend time with their cousins.  And when we get home, we'll have one more week of summer before Gabe's off to kindergarten and Zach's off to his last year of preschool.

I'll post pictures soon!
