The Magic Of Pancakes For Dinner

Yesterday, Gabe suggested that we have pancakes for dinner some time.  Why not tonight?, I asked.  So, pancakes for dinner it was.  Gabe asked for blueberry pancakes (thanks to the Nickelodeon show, "Mike The Knight" who ate pancakes for dinner recently), but we didn't have any blueberries; so, we made chocolate chip pancakes instead.

Man.  Who knew how magical chocolate chip pancakes for dinner would be.  Both Gabe and Zach were super cute.  Super.  Cute.  As he was munching on his pancakes, Gabe asked me to come over so that he could give me a hug.  It was a huge, strong hug.  He then said, "Mom, I'm going to marry you.  Come here for another hug."  After the second strong hug, he said, "Mom, we're marrying each other right now."  That boy was just glowing as he ate his pancakes.

Seeing Gabe giving me hugs inspired Zach to give hugs, too.  So much fun!  Aside from the hugging and talk of marriage (which I obviously got a huge kick out of), the way that Zach was saying chocolate chips might have been the cutest thing that I've ever heard.  He says, "sock-lit sippies".  Gah!  And it's in the sweetest sounding little voice, too.  Thank you, sock-lit sip pancakes!

Two Gabeisms

I can't believe how long it's been since my last post.  Just now, I put the boys down for a nap.  Almost every day, Gabe screams at the top of his lungs, "MOM!" and wants me to come to his room.  He'll scream, MOM, until I arrive.  It drives me nuts.  Even more nuts than usual, because he seems to be struggling more than usual.  And when Gabe struggles, he becomes very angry and difficult to manage emotionally.

Well, today I decided to ignore his yelling for me.  I sat on the couch, tried to concentrate on my book, and tune out the constant MOM chanting from upstairs.  Finally, I gave in, as I believe he wouldn't have stopped until I arrived.  As usual, he needed me for a minute thing---to fit a guy into his toy plane so that the plane door would shut just right.  Seriously?  Not an emergency.  But that boy would not be able to sleep with his plane door ajar.  Argh.

After I fixed the plane, I noticed that he'd gotten himself into his pull up all by himself (I'd forgotten to change him into the pull up when I put him down).  I really praised him for remembering the pull up and doing it on his own.  In reply, he said in a very dramatic tone, "this is the worst day of my life!"  I asked him why and he said that it's because I didn't come when he called and so he had to put his pull up on all by himself.

The other day, Gabe talked about having babies of his own again.  He wanted to know when he was going to have babies.  I told him that he'd have babies when he grew older; when he had a mom for the babies.  He asked who the mom was going to be, and I suggested that it will be someone whom he meets and loves when he's older.  In reply, he said that the mom is going to be Auntie Carole.  He's a love.
