There have been so many good Gabeisms lately, but I haven't had a lot of time to post them. I've forgotten some; here's what I remember:
I told Gabe that we were going to a baby shower playdate for Evelyn & Hendrik's mommy, since she was having another baby. Gabe turned to J and said:
"Let's build her a rocking chair so that she can rock the baby in it. Come on, Dad. Let's go build it."
***********************************************************************************
I told Gabe that I was taking Henry to the vet this morning, and he said:
"I hope he doesn't have a fever."

Gabe's having a hard time picking out his clothes. He's very fond of one outfit, and when it's not clean, he struggles to find a "cool" outfit. The other day, I suggested that he wear a shirt that I bought him for Christmas; a shirt that he's never worn before. When Gabe said no to the shirt, I said that I felt badly for the shirt, as the shirt must feel sad that it's never getting worn. In response, Gabe said:
"Mom, shirts can't be sad. They don't have feelings because they don't have mouths."
Oh, I wish I could remember the others!!!!

Transformers SOS!
Gabe is on a huge Transformers kick. He "needs" a new Transformers backpack, Transformers lunch pack, Transformers helmet, Transformers Halloween costume, and a Transformer car.
This all started yesterday when he came home from school. He informed me that he needs a new Transformers backpack, like his friend, Joseph's. When I reminded him that he has a very nice backpack with his name on it, he told me that he needs a new one because the one that he has is too small for his back; his back is growing.
Later in the day, he asked Momo to buy him a Transformers helmet that he'd seen online. And this morning when Nini called, he immediately asked her to buy him a "Transformer that turns into a car." This boy is crazy for Transformers!!! And he has it all worked out, as far as who's going to buy him what. It reminds me a little of Alex P. Keaton from Family Ties, no? Calculating.....at age 4?

Thpooky
My little Zachie Bub! When I went into Zach's room this morning at 6:30, I'm pretty sure that I woke him up! You see, he raised his head slowly from the corner in which it was smashed, moving the ginormous (but flat) pillow off of his body, and looked at me very intently. (Can I just tell you how much I LOVE that he uses his pillow as a blanket? I truly think he has no idea that the pillow is supposed to go under his head. Every morning he wakes up with the pillow over his little body!) Anyway, he looked at me so intently and said:
"It dark in here. It tho thpooky. I no like deep, dark wood."

The Deep, Dark Woods
Both boys have been talking about the deep, dark woods ever since we got the Gruffalo movie for Christmas. Gabe really wants to take a walk in the deep, dark woods. I almost took them for a hike the other day, but then the snow arrived. I'm hoping to take them for a hike in the Lynn Woods soon!
Anyway, the other day when I was putting Zach down for a nap, he said:
"Mom, I no like deep dark woods."
In reply, I told him that we didn't have to go for a hike in the woods if we didn't want to. Again, he said that he didn't like the deep, dark woods. When I put him down for bed later that night, he again told me that he didn't like the deep dark woods. And when he said it again last night and then this afternoon at nap, I finally figured it out! He's talking about the actual dark and how he doesn't like to be alone in the dark. Poor bub!!!

Happy Birthday, Mama!
I went away this past weekend with some of my mom friends. We had a great time, although I missed all three boys. When I came home, they'd made a homemade birthday cake and homemade cards for me! (with the help of Auntie Titi). It was the best homecoming ever. I felt very, very loved. Thank you, my loves! I have a wonderful little family.

The Uncle Colin Factor
Uncle Colin's name is coming up a lot in conversation lately. Not only do the boys love him, but he's also becoming their new measuring stick, for lack of a better way to phrase it.
You see, our Uncle Colin is a tall gentleman. Probably the tallest man whom Gabe and Zach know. Here's what I'm referring to:
You see, our Uncle Colin is a tall gentleman. Probably the tallest man whom Gabe and Zach know. Here's what I'm referring to:
- When Gabe moved into his big boy bed, he asked if it was big enough for Uncle Colin.
- When we were talking about the size of the Loch Ness Monster, Gabe asked if it was bigger than Uncle Colin.
- When we went to build our snowman today, Gabe asked if we could make it as big as Uncle Colin. Since I'm not that good at making snowmen, I suggested that we make a "mini" Uncle Colin. When J got home from work and asked what they did during the day, Gabe told him that we made a "mini" Uncle Colin snowman.
- And when we talked about building a snow wall earlier today (with our snow blocks), Gabe asked if we were going to build it taller than Uncle Colin.
Bowling!
Momo and I took the boys bowling yesterday. It was around the third time that Gabe's been bowling and the first time for Zach. Gabe did great and seemed to have a fun time. Zach, on the other hand, really enjoyed bowling but had a very hard time waiting for his turn. According to the man who runs the bowladrome, Zach's a bit too young for the sport. Regardless, it was a great way to spend a Monday morning.
Gabe's first bowling shoe
getting my shoes on
bowling!
so excited
here's what the pins looked like after Gabe's first try
Zach's first try at bowling!
waiting so patiently
look at my cool bowling shoes
great ball!
so excited
I don't want to look
Zach would put his arms out like that after each ball
there was also a lot of tongue action
so cute!
but he had such a hard time waiting
Gabe was such a patient boy!
so old school
a trip to the bowling alley would not be complete without a visit to the arcade section
and then they went running around and it was time to go!
