Sunday Afternoon At the Apple Orchard!

While J was golfing with a friend on Sunday afternoon, Auntie Auntie and I took the boys to Russell Orchards in Ipswich for an afternoon of apple picking.  I think Russell Orchards is officially my favorite apple orchard.  We took a hay ride out to the ripe apple trees, picked two full bags (Gabe wanted to dump the apples out of the bags so that he could pick more apples all over again), ate some cider donuts (my favorite!), and then visited with the animals at the farm area.  It was a beautiful, sunny afternoon, and we all had a great time.

I see the tractor, and I'm not sure I like it up close

I found the best apple!

this bag is so heavy!

yum!

After we filled our bags with apples, we went to see the farm animals.  Some of the chickens and roosters were running around, outside of their cages.  A big goose came over to us for a visit, too.  When I saw one rooster hiding in some bushes, I asked Gabe if he thought the rooster was scared.  In response, Gabe said, "I think he's just joying the sights."  How funny is my little man?

the boys were fascinated with "Mr. Mallard"

here's the rooster who was "joying the sights"

they were equally excited by the big goose

Gabe was going, "bock, bock, bock"

I wanted to touch it, but I didn't want to sit on it

on the way home, I spied someone selling my favorite flower, Chinese Lanterns

We stopped to pick one up ($5 a bunch, on the honor system - love Essex!)

thanks, Auntie for taking such a beautiful shot!
