Dust Flowers

Our backyard is crazy.  Crazy out of control.  It looks like a weed pasture.  And it's driving J nuts.  A landscaper was scheduled to come and remove our dirt heap (and cut the grass), but it's been raining so much that he hasn't been able to come.  Pictures cannot capture the level of crazy that we have going on in the backyard.

Here are a few pictures anyway:

can you see how long the grass is?  (and there's our new pool fence!)

full of weeds

This post is really not about our t-razy backyard, but it is related to the weeds growing in it.  This morning, Gabe noticed that there are tons of dandelions in the backyard - the dandelions that have fluff.  Like most kids, Gabe loves to crush the fluffy dandelions, and now I know why he feels so passionately about crushing them.  As soon as he looked outside today, Gabe said, "I need to go outside, Mom.  I have a lot of dust flowers to chomp."

Gabe does not like dust.  He'll pick up a dust bunny from the floor and throw it away, he'll swish it with his arms when he sees it in the light, etc.  And now his backyard is full of crazy dust flowers!

look out, dust flowers

Gabe's coming

and he's going to chomp you
