So, the boys were eating dinner tonight, and I was feeling pretty frustrated with Gabe. He's been pushing Zach down a lot lately and talking back. He said something fresh, and my face fell. Gabe asked me if I was feeling sad, and I told him that I was feeling frustrated. In response, he said that he'd tell me a story to make me feel better.
Book I
I can't remember the story (and he was whispering), but it started out as "Once upon a there was a mommy." It went on for a bit, so I reached for my notebook and asked him to tell me another story. The second story I wrote down word for word. Word. For. Word, people!
Book II
"Once upon a time there was a mommy and her two little boys and they heard thunder and lightening but it was just a dragon. The Dragon said, "sorry to scare you but my leg was getting stiff." And they said okay and the queen and dragon lived happily ever after."
I was SO impressed with this story, that I asked him for another. He told me that he'd tell me one more, but that it would be my last story.
Book III
"Once upon a time there was a little mother and she was on a pirate ship with her boys and doggie. There was a pirate and a treasure and the treasure was in a cave but they took it and the pirate said, 'The End.'"
Seriously? Book II just blows my mind. My leg was getting stiff? I have to thank Auntie Auntie for telling Gabe pirate stories. I think her pretend stories have inspired Gabe to make up his own. And he clearly knows that telling stories makes a person feel better!
Oh I love this.
