So, I met up with a couple of our mom friends, including Noah and his mom, at the park near the Wakefield lake this morning. Gabe, Evelyn, Hendrik, and Zach played well at the park for a while, and then the kids decided that they wanted to go to the "beach" aka the tiny opening at the lake across from the park.
Margot and I were having a nice time chatting, the four kids were dropping rocks into the water and exploring the "beach". Along comes Noah, and everything changed. Gabe started going a little further into the water to retrieve a stick that he was throwing (sneakers, socks, shorts and all), Noah started going really far into the water (like up to his waist), and what do you know.........they're all running in/out of the water. The water where at one point in time there was a sign that said, "Do Not Swim."
Margot left just before things got crazy......so it was really just Gabe and Noah who were literally retriever dogs - throwing a stick into the lake and then running into the water to get it. And then doing it all over again. All the while, Diana and I are screaming for them to close their mouths so that they wouldn't ingest any water. Where there's dirt, water, and chaos, I feel as if my boys will find it. Needless to say, I stripped them down to their undies/diaper on the beach and walked them over to the car practically naked - in front of all of the moms at the park, who were looking at us and probably thinking that we were lunatic moms.
Oh, and yesterday............it rained most of the day, but when the sun came out briefly in the afternoon, I took the boys outside. What did they do? They found the one puddle in the backyard and jumped, fell, and played in that puddle, covering themselves in mud.
Just another typical day in our world....
Margot's making her escape
making sand angels
Gabe found a huge stick - this is where things started to get dicey
and now is where the chaos began
they're all in
Gabe's shorts are water-logged and falling down at this point
at least he's having fun....
gross water....ugh
I think we should take our shorts off
look how Noah's up to his neck in the water. Gah!
this is better - we're in our undies!
Noah loved going up to his neck.
and now they're both up to their necks
this was as far as Zach really wanted to go. He wanted his shorts off, too, but I wasn't having it.
