It's Gabe's third week and third day of school today. It's yet another snowy Tuesday. I dream of the day when I don't have to bundle these two little boys up, put on the boots and hats and mittens, etc. to get them into the car and ready for school. Will it ever stop snowing on Tuesdays?
I digress. So, Gabe's still trying to make sense of school. This morning, he said that he didn't want to go to school, and so we told him that he didn't have to go. Of course, he then said that he did want to go. At breakfast, he went over to Zach's highchair to give Zach a hug and tell him that he was going to miss him when he was at school. Gah! Made my heart sing. Does it get cuter than that?
After breakfast, while he was playing with various toys, Gabe asked me if he could take the toys to school. Mom, can I take this garbage truck to school? Mom, can I take Scout, the school buses, and this train to school? Mom, can I take my camera to school? Mom, can I take my glasses to school? And each time, I'd tell him that it wasn't a good idea; that he'd have to share those toys; that he might lose those toys; that there were toys at school to play with; that his toys would be waiting for him when he got home. I'm guessing that Gabe's struggling between wanting to go to school and wanting to be at home playing with toys (and being with Zach). So, if he can bring everything to school, he could have the best of both worlds. Smart kid!
In the end, 4 buses went with us in the car to school. And Gabe asked me to hide them while he was gone (so Zach couldn't play with them). And, as he was walking off with the teacher's aide, he told me that he'd miss me! Ha whaaaaaaaaaaaat? That just made my day.
