Not Joying This

So I was just talking about this issue with Melissa the other day, and today it came up again so I thought I'd blog about it.  Our two boys are very different.  When listening to music in the car, Gabe could listen to the same song over and over and over and over.  Zach, on the other hand, is done with a song after listening to it once.  He's literally been that way since he was a baby.  I'd be driving with the boys in the car when Zach was an infant, and if we repeated a song more than twice, Zach would scream.  I didn't really think that it was related to the music at first.  I mean, he was an infant - could he really have an opinion about the songs that we were listening to?  As Zach's gotten older, he's remained steadfast in fussing, crying, or screaming if we listen to a song more than once or twice.

Gabe gets so irritated with Zach, as he's used to having his way with the car music.  The result is that both boys end up crying - Gabe cries if we have to move on from a song or Zach cries if I repeat the song.  Why do both boys feel so strongly about how many times a song is played??

In order to explain why Zach doesn't want to listen to a song over and over again, I told Gabe that "Zach's not enjoying" hearing a song again;  he prefers hearing a new song.  Now, when Zach gets upset at the repeat of a song and I refuse to repeat it, Gabe replies, "I'm not joying this."   That always cracks me up.
